The UK is facing a trucking crisis, with many older male drivers leaving the industry. Yet of the 500,000 truck drivers in the UK, just 2% are women. Mothertruckers is a brand new, fun, cheeky & quirky documentary which jumps in the passenger seat with this small, but growing band of women truckers. How do these queens of the road meet the tough challenge of working in this 'man’s world', while still maintaining their femininity? Mothertruckers, a fly-on-the-wall documentary, meets the new queens of the road and reveals the lifestyles of an unusual band of ladies rising to the challenge of being truck drivers, while fighting to keep a stable family environment, as mothers, daughters, wives and girlfriends. Mothertruckers follows several female truckers, including former ballerina Emma who, plagued by injury, is torn between her new career and her desire to get back into dancing, glamorous trainee Ella who hopes to pass her HGV2 test, ex-soldier and transsexual Vikki who reveals her struggle for acceptance as one of the girls, and mother hen - and lead MotherTrucker - Wendy explains why she puts her time into training and mentoring new female drivers.
