The 1990’s marked the end of some of the most powerful New York mafia families. Once feared, they were now heading toward extinction. Undermined by deadly rivalries and federal investigations, these families transformed into fractious strangers, and as a result, their undisputed leadership and power withered. After spending 20 years in federal prison for a myriad of crimes, the ailing Mafia Capo Joseph 'Mr. Joe' Scoleri (Paul Sorvino) is released. As he tries to reconnect with his daughter Rita and establish a relationship with his neighbor Bobby (Michael Rapaport), he realizes that the life he knew no longer exists and nothing is the same as it was before he went away.
