Hard-edged journalist Terry Corcoran investigates the deaths of two scientists, Maurice Coleman and Neil Plunkett, who used to work for the huge Irish pharmaceutical company, Chemacran. On the back of its incredibly successful anti-depressant, Seraban, Chemacran is about to undertake a high level merger with a US company. At the same time, Terry is trying to get to the bottom of the murder of a white man by Nigerian Jake Kuria. He uncovers a frightening world of racist intimidation of the city's immigrant population. But with Jake’s persistent black outs and claims of relentless racial intimidation from a local gang by his wife Tessa, Terry is left doubting whether Jake’s arrest is warranted.
