After a car accident left her unable to have children, Shannon and her husband Steven adopt a Haitian girl, Nina, through an adoption organisation based in Puerto Rico. Having paid $60,000 to Gabrielle, the leader of the adoption agency, the new family travel to a local hotel whilst they wait for Nina’s American passport to arrive. However, two days after the adoption, the couple wake to discover their daughter has disappeared and the couple will stop at nothing to uncover the truth behind her disappearance, and the dangerous secret behind the agency they trusted.
