Sonny Daye is a strange introverted kid who hasn't said much ever since age six. When his grandmother dies he is sent to Los Angeles to live with his only remaining family, Franky Syde. Although Sonny doesn't act like he cares about making it to the top he, like Franky, is obsessed, only he isn't afraid. This deluded determination rockets Sonny straight to the top and he is drawn in by a dazzling little scarlet, Vanessa Mason. Vanessa is linked with the toughest gangster in Hollywood, Sid Dalgen, who consequently is going to produce a film that Sonny and Vanessa are set to star in. This black comedy takes us on a whirlwind to the world of true love.
